Search engine optimisation (SEO) can be described as the exercise of boosting content so that search engines can understand it and are more likely to recommend it in response to a search query (Bradshaw,2018).
It is important to optimize the content of a website by using suitable techniques. For example, using keywords, which are relevant to the website can be used to boost the ranking on where it stands on a search page, compared to other websites that might not have the same amount of relevancy. It also allows bots to filter the HTML to provide ‘seed sites’ that are trusted upon a search query.
Fashion websites like Hypebeast also use links, lists and subheadings such as ‘Fashion’, ‘Music’ and ‘Videos’, in line with the positioning of keywords to maximise the chances of a higher page rank. All these factors push a website’s chances to appear on the first SERP (Bradshaw, 2018).
